Biography

Since joining Birmingham Neurosurgery & Spine Group, P.C. in 1999, Dr. Bowen has served in various capacities at Baptist Montclair Hospital, including the Executive Committee, Cancer Committee, and Health Information Committee. Currently, Dr. Bowen is a member of numerous organizations, such as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (including Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves) the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (including Joint Section on Tumors of the Central Nervous System) and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.

Education

A native of Sylacauga, Alabama, Dr. Bowen received a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University and his M.D. at UAB School of Medicine before completing his Internship and Residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Dr. Bowen currently performs all surgical procedures at St. Vincent’s Birmingham where he is an active staff member.

Dr. Samuel R. Bowen is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons,the Congress of Neurological Surgeons,and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.
